Hi, I´m a huge F1 fan and I will attend the Malaysian GP this year! I wanted some input on what to expect and/or tips regarding what I need to do, where to go, what not to miss, etc.
I have been looking for tickets to the Sepang Circuit and they only have for Saturday and Sunday, so I was wondering if anyone knows if they are going to sell tickets at the circuit to attend on Thursday and Friday?
I have never posted before, so I don´t know if anyone will answer |

I was at the 2007 Malaysian GP.
I was impressed with the faciolities and the ease in getting to the track via the Airport train and dedicated shuttle busses.
I'll have to check my grand stand,
but even the cheapest grandstand had seat-backs and a roof.
Sporadic rain is a fact of life... could be a deluge.
Bring a poncho or something... though, it's quite hot, so the rain might be refreshing...
until you step on to that air conditioned shuttle bus....
There are shuttle busses around the circuit too, which are different from the to/from airport busses.
after the race I had to wait a while for a non over-filled internal shuttle bus to come along...and
in fact, I ended up just walking back to the airport shuttle station on Saturday.
it was a little far, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend this route, but
it can be done.
On Sunday, I hung out in my seat until people told me I had to leave,
by which time there were plenty of shuttle busses.
I have no idea about gate tickets.
I didn't go for Friday Practice.
What I do remember is that they were checking bags at the gates for
Food and water!
This was rather alarming, considering it was nearly 40degrees C.
They sold pretty tasty Satay inside, and of course bottled water.
They're trying to maximise their concessions take.
I snuck in two pet bottles in a backpack full of ponchos and other fluffy stuff, but
didn't bother for Sunday.
They had a huge bin of confiscated water bottles and food. They are serious.
I actually found the cheap seats really good. I could see the start from the back end of the grid, of course the cars pass right in front and then you can see them again off in the distance again.
Saturday attendence was pretty sparse, but there were no seats to be had on Sunday.
The cheap grand stand seats were the same price as lawn tickets in Japan
and the cheap seats in Shanghai, but in Shanghai it was just an aluminum bleacher-style bench with no covering.
I thought Sepang was a great bargain.
I'll post again if i think of anything else.
Have fun. _________________ "(Michael Schumacher,) he's a rather good team mate." - Nico Rosberg 2010

They don't allow you to take in water. Everyone should boycott the vendors inside the track and flood the medical facilities with cases of dehydration. _________________ Don't make old People mad.

I couldn't believe it.
Luckily, on Saturday, I just happened to have bought the same brand of bottled water they were selling inside the gates (in addition to getting lucky at the search) _________________ "(Michael Schumacher,) he's a rather good team mate." - Nico Rosberg 2010

Ive only visited the Nurburgring and the Singaporean GP so far. So as far as my experience with going to a racing circuit and watching an F1 race goes - well its not so much. I would suggest one to get there early enough so you've got time to fight through the entrance queues and security checks and the long walks to the designated stands. watch the pre-race events like the porsche cup and the Fiat 500 challenge, those are fun too. Malaysia will be hot so make sure you've got yourself a grandstand ticket with a seat in the shade, a walkabout ticket would be a real pain.
Hope you've got yourself a good camera mate. Clicking pictures of the cars in singapore was very difficult. The cars were way too quick for the camera lense.
For more precise information you can also p.m supreet. He's been to sepang too and rockthing has given quite a lot of useful information so im sure you've got everything sorted. Have fun! Nothing beats watching a F1 race from trackside. _________________ ON THE LIMIT......FuLL rEvS!!!!
