Stars of Tomorrow - 3&4
We edge closer

Things are getting interesting now as we reach numbers three and four in our list of future hot-shots.

I can't fault either of Mr Crosslings choices today, for which he's chosen one from Switzerland, and one from that hot-bed of motor racing talent, Estonia.

Switzerland has some decent names to it's list - Regazzoni, of course - but if i'm right in thinking that Jean-Denis Deletraz was Swiss then thats a serious copybook error. If Deletraz was anything other than Swiss, he was still crap.

Anyway, let's have a look at Pauls selections for the third and fourth spot:

4. Sebastien Buemi

Where is he from?
Sebastien Buemi is a nineteen year old from Switzerland. He was born on October 31 1988 in Aigle.

What Has He Done?
Sebastien made his car debut in 2004 when he finished third in the Formula BMW ADAC championship. In 2005 he was second on his return to the Formula BMW ADAC championship. This result earned him a place in the Formula BMW World Final in which he finished second.

2006 was a very busy year. He competed in the Formula Three Euroseries. He ended the season in third place after taking one win from twenty races. He also raced in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. He only did six races in this championship and ended the season in eleventh place after a win. He also did eight races in the Formula Renault 2.0 North European Championship winning two and finishing seventh in the standings.

Also in 2006 he finished third in the Masters of Formula Three race and fourth in the Formula Three Macau Grand Prix.

Sebastien competed in A1GP in 2005/2006 for Team Switzerland. He raced it all but three of the eleven rounds failing to win but helping his nation to eighth in the championship.

Sebastien is currently racing in the European Formula Three Championship. He is leading the championship with 42 points and just one win from the opening eight races.

He also substituted for Michael Ammermuller driving for the ART team in GP2. He competed in the one and only race in Monaco where he finished seventh to score two points.

His career has so far seen him start 99 races and finished on the podium 44 times with twelve of this podiums being wins.

My Prediction for the Future
Any driver that can come from a county where motor racing was banned for 52 years must be good. Like his Swiss counterpart Neel Jani Sebastien has backing from Red Bull. His World Series by Renault form has been good this year and a promotion to one of the two Red Bull backed GP2 teams for 2008 it looking like a certainty.

If that comes off it will not be long before his first Formula One test which should lead to a race drive for 2009 at the main Red Bull team or Toro Rosso.

3. Marko Asmer

Where is he from?
Marko Asmer is a twenty-two year old from Estonia. He was born on July 30 1984 in Tallinn

What Has He Done?
Marko made his debut racing in the 2003 Formula Renault V6 Eurocup where he finished nineteenth. He also raced in the British Formula Ford Championship in which he won two races of the twenty he participated in on his way to eleventh in the championship.

In 2004 he raced in British Formula Three finishing tenth in the title race. He also competed in the prestigious one-off races. He was sixth in the Bahrain Formula Three Superprix, seventh in the Formula Three European Cup, eleventh in the Formula Three Macau Grand Prix and sixteenth in the Masters of Formula Three.

He retuned to British Formula Three for a second season in 2005 where he took his first win in the series and finished fourth in the championship. He again raced in the Masters of Formula Three and finished seventh. In 2006 he moved to Japan to compete in Japanese Formula Three. He won one race on his way to seventh in the series and finished thirteenth in the Formula Three Macau Grand Prix

What is He Doing Now?
Marko has returned to British Formula Three for this season. He is dominating the championship. After five of the eleven rounds he has 156 points and is leading by a clear 51 points from his nearest rival. He is also racing in a second season of Japanese Formula Three. He is eighth after six races.

His career has so far included 108 race starts, finishing with 19 podiums of which nine are victories.

My Prediction for the Future
Robert Kubica has gained fans and fame all over the world for being the first pole in Formula One. I expect the same thing to happen to Marko when he becomes the first Estonian in Formula One.

My advise to all teams would be to sign this man because when the “Kubica-effect” re-occurs for Marko it will bring many new fans to Formula One and they will support any team Marko is driving for.
