Button lambasts BAR, Honda
Briton irate after Malaysian retirement

“Engineering an engine to do three laps is not hard.”

That was an irate Jenson Button’s message for Honda after he, and his substitute team-mate Anthony Davidson, retired from the Malaysian Grand Prix with blown engines.

The BAR pairing couldn’t even complete three laps before their Honda engines let go on a bitterly disappointing afternoon for the team.

When quizzed for his thoughts at the end of the day, Button didn’t mix his words, blasting both the team and its engine partner.

"Compared to last year we have made a huge step back in every area it looks like at the moment," the Briton told ITV.

"We are quick, that's the annoying thing, we had the pace and we had a good strategy. This has to change and the thing is I know it is not going to change soon. I am very angry...but there you go."

Meanwhile Davidson kept the smile on his face and refused to be drawn into criticism.

The man who replaced the ill Takuma Sato said he ‘waved his arm a bit’ but that was as angry as he got.

BAR have had no finishes from four starts this season.
