Sunday at Imola: Action update
Round-up of race day morning

(GMM) It rained early Sunday morning, putting an extra spin on final qualifying for the San Marino grand prix.

Christijan Albers came off second best at Variante Alta -- he spun and hit the barrier.

''The track was damp in some places,'' said Williams' Nick Heidfeld, who dropped a spot to BAR's Takuma Sato.

All eyes are now on the afternoon sky.

''Our forecast says no more rain,'' Toyota's Mike Gascoyne revealed, ''but we'll see.''

Kimi Raikkonen snatched a dominant pole from fellow front row sitter Fernando Alonso, moving the latter to wonder if McLaren might three-stop.

''I hope the quite big gap between us is down to (that),'' the championship leader remarked.

Raikkonen said: ''We're only halfway there, but our strategy should be strong.''
