Imola wrap-up
News shorts from race weekend

(GMM) Both sides of the fence lauded a 'magnificent' battle for victory at Imola. ''(It) will have focused the eyes of the world on F1,'' said Fernando Alonso's boss, Renault CEO Patrick Faure. Ferrari's Ross Brawn added of the Alonso v. Michael Schumacher duel: ''This was a magnificent race for Ferrari ... and for F1.''

SLOW START

Williams' FW27 struggled to get off the line at Imola. Nick Heidfeld and Mark Webber lost two places each on the run to Tamburello. ''I sat behind Jarno (Trulli) for most of the race,'' the latter rued. ''Clearly we have to improve that,'' technical director Sam Michael conceded.

DODGY DUEL

Sauber's Felipe Massa, who collided with the Scot twice, hit out at David Coulthard's driving. ''Once I tried (to overtake) and he drove me into the dirt,'' said the Brazilian, ''and another he just closed the door and I lost my front wing. For me it was too much.''

FRAGILE FERRARI

Ferrari and Michael Schumacher may be celebrating a return to pace, but the luckless Rubens Barrichello urged Maranello to also focus on reliability. ''We still have to look at (that),'' said the man who retired with an unspecified electrical problem. ''It has not been so good lately.''

LAST LAP

Imola marked the final grand prix of Renault top-dog Louis Schweitzer before, on May 1, Carlos Ghosn takes over. ''We are proud to offer (Schweitzer) this victory,'' Flavio Briatore said in Italy.
