Canada 'tough on brakes'
But plenty overtaking opportunities..

(GMM) Why is Canada's sea-lined venue so often the scene of a thrilling Formula One grand prix?

It could be because the pretty-quick Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is one of the better circuits for overtaking.

The drivers' favourite passing spot is into the slow first gear hairpin, but action is often seen at the fabled chicane and 'Quebec' wall.

''Montreal doesn't really flow very much at all,'' BAR-Honda driver Jenson Button noted, ''but there are some good overtaking opportunities.''

On the other hand, Canada - the barrier lined track situated on an island about 15 minutes from downtown Montreal - is arguably the toughest test of all for brakes.

''It is second to Bahrain for ... the brakes,'' Toyota's chief engineer Dieter Gass contended, ''and the circuit is also hard on the rear tyres.''
