McLaren pace and two Toyota shunts dominated the opening day of the United States Grand Prix.
Juan Pablo Montoya was the pace setter in both of the day’s practice sessions.
His former Williams team-mate Ralf Schumacher, now at Toyota, ended the second run with a heavy hit to the barriers.
Ricardo Zonta, also of Toyota, also went flying off the circuit when he also suffered a Michelin tyre failure.
