After suggestions of a driver strike made international headlines over the weekend, David Coulthard was quick to play down the claims on Monday.
The Red Bull Racing ace said on Saturday that current concerns over safety could lead to Formula One drivers taking dramatic action during the second half of the season.
However, after widespread coverage the Scot rethought his words and told a Turkish media conference: "I don't think there's any risk in the drivers taking a strike.
“Formula One is very well regulated, the safety has improved fantastically over the last ten years, and the only thing we've been working towards is improving testing safety.
"When we go testing, we do [the equivalent of] two Grands Prix, and the facilities are not as good as when we go to a Grand Prix."
Coulthard, as well as his fellow 19 F1 drivers, are due to discuss safety concerns with FIA president Max Mosley in Cannes on the first of August.
