Three jumbos, 50 cars, and 25 teams marked the arrival of A1 Grand Prix in Australia.
The world’s latest premier category touched down in the southern hemisphere for the first time earlier this week in preparation for the fourth round of the championship.
Sydney – until now outshone by Melbourne’s Formula One round and the Gold Coast’s Champ Car carnival – plays host with the famous V8 Supercar venue Eastern Creek.
As per usual the action commences on Friday with two practice sessions, followed by qualifying on Saturday and the races on Sunday.
Organisers are tipping big crowds for the series’ first fly-away round with tickets already all but sold out.
UpdateSport will have full coverage of the weekend’s events.
* Possible showers. Day one of the A1 Grand Prix of Nations in Sydney could get underway on a wet track.
Forecasts for Friday said possible showers despite a scorcher in the harbour city on Thursday.
