Formula One is set for a further raft of changes after the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council confirmed the introduction of new rules for season 2008.
The major objective of the changes is – again - to reduce costs with plans to limit the aerodynamic development of cars through the season.
Aerodynamic regulations will also change to promote overtaking with the radical split rear wing proposal still one of the options being considered.
The finer details will be discussed and released later in December but are set to include restrictions on aerodynamic modification; long-life engines and gearboxes; rev-limited engines; a standard electronic control unit; and, a single tyre supplier.
