(GMM) Bernie Ecclestone reckons grands prix might stir a bigger buzz if they are staged once every two or three years.
The F1 supremo's latest bombshell would make room on the calendar for more host countries, but would threaten the traditionally annual appearance of current races.
''I thought of it after I saw the closing ceremony (of the Commonwealth Games) in Melbourne,'' he told the Australian city's Age newspaper, referring to the excitement of the event.
The Briton was also already contemplating the idea of alternating races for the German events at Hockenheim and Nurburgring, with both struggling to fill grandstands year-on-year.
Ecclestone continued: ''That way, people would get a big hype for (a GP) when it happens.''
Perhaps more importantly for Bernie, though, it would solve the problem of the queue of potential F1 venues lining at his door.
