(GMM) Renault's presence on the formula one grid beyond 2007 depends on whether it costs less to race.
That is the revelation of Alain Dassas, the French-owned team's new 'F1 president' who took over the job from retiring Patrick Faure at the start of this month.
''Nothing is ever certain,'' he told Agence France-Presse, ''but if we continue to cut costs, we will be there.''
The 59-year-old Frenchman added that part of his job would be to look at increasing revenue, pushing for 'a more favourable distribution' of income and the cutting of costs.
Dassas' warning about the future comes despite the 'GPMA' carmaker group - of which Renault is a member - lodging entry forms to compete in 2008.
