(GMM) Midland's former sporting director has confirmed that he is one of 22 teams applying to race in F1 in 2008.
In a statement, Carlin Motorsport's Trevor Carlin said the proposed rules should bring budgets within the reach of junior teams.
''We are well underway with building an appropriate infrastructure,'' he said, ''(and) we are confident that the requisite finance will be available from our existing contacts if the entry is accepted.''
Carlin's entry is among a swarm of other prospective teams that hope to win the final spot on the grand prix grid.
Among them are David Richards' Prodrive,
Direxiv, Paul Stoddart's Minardi and GP2 teams BCN and Racing Engineering. Entries for Craig Pollock, Eddie Jordan, Eddie Irvine, Durango and the Pakistan A1 team are thought likely.
