Apr.24 (GMM) It's a busy time at Super Aguri's Leafield factory.
The fledgling team, hard at work on a new car and planning to run a 'Friday' driver for the first time from Nurburgring, is also contemplating a possible replacement for struggling Yuji Ide.
Financial director Wayne Humphreys told Reuters that the goal for the SA06's debut is the French GP in July; but he suggested that - in spite of expectations - it is not an entirely new racer.
Admitting that the basis of the car is similar, he insisted: ''(But) it's unrecognisable as an Arrows.
''We're just waiting for Honda to confirm the availability of
some of the gearbox components.''
31-year-old Ide, meanwhile, will almost certainly be given one more chance to shine at the Nurburgring, but countryman and GP2 driver Hiroki Yoshimoto is being lined up as a ring-in.
