Testing round-up, Wednesday
Renault rule Silverstone

Renault dominated the second day of testing at Silverstone as Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella took the top spots on a cool and overcast day.

Alonso's best time of 1:18.640, and Fisichella's 1:18.975, easily outpaced the rest of the field.

Jenson Button continued to show Honda's outright pace with third, while the forecast improvements from Mclaren Mercedes seemed not to be forthcoming on a day when Kimi Raikkonen joined Juan Pablo Montoya for testing duties.

Further down the field Tonio Liuzzi, testing for Red Bull as opposed to his usual Scuderia Toro Rosso outfit, endured a massive accident at Beckets that destroyed the chassis but, thankfully, left the driver unhurt and able to walk away.

Meanwhile at Paul Ricard, France, Ferrari joined Toyota as the Japanese outfit debuted the heavily revised 'b' version of the TF106, a car that Jarno Trulli praised as 'full of promise'.

Testing continues at both venues today, and UpdateF1 will keep you updated.
