May 1 (GMM) Trevor Carlin has vowed to keep an eye on formula one, despite missing out on the vacant spot in the pit lane of 2008.
David Richards' 'Prodrive' won the vote of the governing FIA to join the current eleven teams in grand prix racing, but Carlin - formerly involved with 'MF1' and a mainstay of junior categories - mentioned 2009 as a new target.
The Briton said: ''We have been encouraged by the invitation from the (FIA) to leave our intention to enter (formula one) on the table.''
Indeed, FIA president Max Mosley lauded the 'high calibre' of some of the redundant applications, and said it indicated that formula one's future is 'bright'.
And he said of the rejected ten, including Carlin: ''We asked them to keep in touch in case a vacancy occurred.''
