May 1 (GMM) The future of Valentino Rossi will be settled in the coming weeks, with Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo vowing to soon settle the 'will-he-won't-he' speculation about the Italian's possible F1 switch.
As he struggled for pace at the MotoGP round in Turkey at the weekend, the 27-year-old rider confused reporters by saying: ''I honestly don't know whether there is a signed contract (with Ferrari) but my wish is to stay.''
With gossip therefore abounding about a possible contract, Montezemolo was pressed about Ferrari's plans for flamboyant Rossi and 2007.
Referring to the situation of having Michael Schumacher, Rossi, Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa in the frame, he told La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper: ''Abundance is always to be preferred.
''We will talk to Rossi in the coming weeks to make a decision. With Raikkonen, there is absolutely nothing (to report) other than the fact that we believe he is one of the best three drivers at the moment.''
In another interview, with Autosport magazine, Rossi insisted that the Ferrari door is still 'open'. A decision is due in June.
