Barrichello
Team boss happy with countryman

May 3 (GMM) Honda has backed under-performing team driver Rubens Barrichello as 'one of the best drivers' in F1.

Since switching from a six-year tenure as Michael Schumacher's Ferrari teammate, the Brazilian - to turn 34 later this month - has vastly struggled to keep up with Jenson Button.

But in an interview with sport1.de, sporting director Gil de Ferran said the Honda team is 'content with both of our drivers'.

And, referring to 'Barrichello, he added: 'We think he is one of the best drivers in the field.''

De Ferran, a past winner of the fabled Indy 500, explained that Rubens' main problem is with the car.

''Our car behaves completely differently to Ferrari's,'' Barrichello's countryman insisted, ''and he is driving for the first time on Michelins. Clearly, he has had trouble adapting.

''But the whole Honda team believes in Rubens.''
