Button wants Schumacher to stay
Briton hopes 'he remains for a long time yet'

Jun.2 (GMM) Jenson Button has advised Michael Schumacher to stick around in F1 beyond 2006.

The Honda driver told 'TV Movie' magazine that he hoped the seven time world champion does not retire, despite speculation that the reaction to Schumacher's Monaco indiscretion might compel him to call it a day.

''I hope Schumacher remains with us for a long time yet,'' said 26-year-old Button.

The Englishman's opinion may be influenced by the fact that he is yet to win a single grand prix, let alone a championship. Fernando Alonso has remarked that F1's biggest prize will be devalued once arguably the greatest driver of all time quits.

Button, though, admitted that title glory is some way off for him.

''Unfortunately,'' said the Honda star, ''we are no threat to Renault and Alonso at the moment.''

The next race, at Silverstone, is JB's home event. ''I just hope it goes well there,'' he said after struggling around Monaco.
