First practice at Indianapolis saw Anthony Davidson top the times in a session that saw very little competetive running.
The Honda test driver finished the hour half a second ahead of Michael Schumacher in the Ferrari, who himself was a similar gap ahead of Robert Kubica in the BMW-Sauber.
A more representative showing is expected in second practice, due to begin in little over an hour and a half.
