Aug.8 (GMM) Bernie Ecclestone has allayed Hungary's fears that the issue of tobacco advertising could cost the country its grand prix.
'MTI' reports that cigarette adverts have now disappeared from the Hungaroring, but the 75-year-old 'F1 supremo' has assured the race that its contract is valid until 2011.
Ecclestone met with local minister Monika Lamperth on Monday, to discuss the fact that - due to European laws - Hungary cannot adhere to the formula one contract it signed in 2004.
Sunday's race featured some cigarette trackside posters, but no signage on the cars.
Ecclestone was quoted as saying by the Hungarian portal 'Caboodle': ''Hungaroring has a valid contract to stage formula one races until 2011.''
Lamperth gave Bernie a diploma after their meeting 'for bringing the race to Hungary and (for) keeping it here.''
