(GMM) A deal has still not been done, but the president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway expects formula one to return in 2007.
With this year's race marking the end of the current US grand prix contract, the Indianapolis Star newspaper quoted Joie Chitwood as revealing 'frequent communication' between promoter Tony George and F1's Bernie Ecclestone.
The report said Chitwood 'expects F1's return', but cited time as an issue.
''The longer that (communication) goes, the harder it's going to be for us to get information to our customers.
June 17 or 24 are the most likely dates for a 2007 grand prix at the Speedway, scene also of America's famous Indy 500 and Brickyard 400 races.
