It was BMW yesterday but today Felipe Massa took top spot and showed the dominance of Ferrari by setting a fine time of 1:21.665. Michael Schumacher was third quickest with a time of 1:22.257. However, right up there with them were the BMW duo of Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica. Heidfeld was second quickest with a 1:22.052 and Kubica was fourth with a 1:22.280.
The morning was rather quiet with not much action on the track. The only excitement came when Rubens Barrichello went wide at the Lesmo turns and nearly hit the wall. He was lucky to be able to get it back to the pits. Barrichello finished eighth quickest with a 1:22.835. His team-mate Jenson Button finished in 12th with a 1:23.295. Honda's chances in Monza have been seriously damaged with two consecutive engine failures in previous sessions from tester Anthony Davidson.
Renault were only third quickest today with Fernando Alonso finishing 5th with a 1:22.371 and Giancarlo Fisichella in 6th with a 1:22.412. McLaren finished just behind the Renault team with Kimi Raikkonen in 7th and Pedro de la Rosa in 9th.
The mid-field times consisted of the teams of Red Bull, Toyota, Williams and Honda. Toro Rosso, Midland and Super Aguri took the back slots in the timesheets.
