Sep.28 (GMM) With less than a month to go before the French company pulls out of formula one, Michelin has vowed to keep pushing for the 2006 title.
The marque's F1 director, Nick Shorrock, denied that the looming withdrawal - to leave Bridgestone as the sport's sole supplier in 2007 and beyond - will affect the effort put in as the championship winds down in China, Japan and Brazil.
Despite leading for most of the season, Renault now lies three points behind Ferrari in the constructors' chase, while Michael Schumacher trails Fernando Alonso by two points for the drivers' crown.
''Our commitment remains absolute,'' said Shorrock, who also insisted that tests since Monza at Jerez and Silverstone had led to improvements, including pace over a single lap.
Also referring to partners BMW and McLaren, he added: ''We are trying to give Renault a decisive advantage, but that's not all.''
