Nov.26 (GMM) World champion Fernando Alonso on Saturday married his fiancée, Spanish singer Raquel del Rosario, at a secret ceremony in the Maldives.
The pair, who met about a yet ago, selected the island location in the Indian Ocean after a recent holiday. About fifty guests attended their wedding, reports said.
In the German newspaper 'Suddeutsche Zeitung', meanwhile, Alonso's now retired rival Michael Schumacher said the Spaniard deserves his 2006 title.
"He didn't win it because of luck," the German said. "Not for a long time had a season taken so long to conclude.
"Was he the best? I believe that, at the very least, he deserves his title."
