Jan.24 (GMM) Robert Doornbos will in 2007 combine testing for the formula one team Red Bull with a race seat in the US-based Champ Car series, we have learned.
The Dutchman was Red Bull's 'Friday' driver and some time racer in 2006, and he had hoped to graduate full time to race for the sister squad Toro Rosso this year.
It now emerges, however, that Vitantonio Liuzzi and Scott Speed will retain their Faenza based rides this year, relocating Doornbos - who is planning to attend the launch of the 'RB3' on Friday - to a Red Bull test role.
The 25-year-old is currently testing at Sebring for his ex-Minardi boss Paul Stoddart's new Champ Car team, after he tried one of the Forsythe cars in December.
Sources indicate that Doornbos may soon also test for a third Champ Car team.
