Coulthard fined in Monaco court
1999 road car crash

Feb.8 (GMM) F1 veteran David Coulthard must pay a 500 EUR (US $650) fine after a Monaco court found him guilty of causing injury to a passenger in a 1999 crash.

The news agency Reuters cited a "judicial source" in reporting that the Scot, when he drove for the McLaren team, crashed his Mercedes-Benz road car after hitting a wet patch at night at between 100-150kph in the famous Monte Carlo tunnel.

The female passenger, who was not seriously hurt, withdrew her complaint in 2002 after being compensated, but the court on Tuesday nonetheless found Coulthard, 35, guilty of "accidental injury".

Red Bull's Coulthard, who still lives in Monaco, did not attend court.
