Jan.12 (GMM) A three day test later this year at Belgium's famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit has been shown a green light.
It emerged recently that teams were considering running at the scene of September's race instead of heading to the usual summer test venue, Circuit de Catalunya in Spain.
The Spa test will take place between 10 and 12 July, directly after the British GP, circuit officials have reportedly confirmed.
It is understood that teams favoured running at Spa over Barcelona because the Belgian circuit has hosted formula one just once in the past three years.
Additionally, the layout has been slightly modified since the 2005 race to accommodate a new paddock and pit complex.
Sources said the circuit works will be completed in mid to late May, weather permitting.
