Mar.9 (GMM) Bridgestone will apply a white strip to the outside tyre wall of its 'option' specifications in 2007 to comply with the FIA's newly published regulation, we have learned.
In Champ Car, Bridgestone colours the tyre walls red during the production phase to conform with a similar rule, but the specific solution for F1 is understood to be more temporary so that the 'option' tyre can be selected and marked at the actual race circuits.
A Bridgestone spokesperson confirmed that white markings would be used to conform to the newly revised Subsection 4 of the sporting regulations' Article 25.1 B.
It reads: "(Each tyre specification) must be of one homogenous compound and visibly distinguishable from one another when a car is on the track."
