Lewis Hamilton has yet again put his McLaren firmly onto Pole Position for the US Grand Prix and already his fans and followers will be praying for a repeat of last weeks victory.
Coulthard was the 1st man out on track today (Saturday) in what started out as a very slow starting qualifying session for the US Grand Prix. The 1st session is fairly uneventful with the only real things worth mentioning is Alonso setting the pace, Coulthard dropping the Red Bull into Turn 8 and Anthony Davidson once again making it through to the next round.
Drivers out after Session 1: P17 Wurz, P18 Sato, P19 Liuzzi P20 Speed P21 Sutil and P22 Albers.
The 2nd session was even less interesting than the 1st with absolutely no stand out action to speak of…. Err Raikkonen had a late improvement in his Ferrari that moved him up to P3 behind the 2 McLarens and for a short while Anthony Davidson looked like he might even manage a Top 10 start. Other than that, there really isn’t much to report I am very sorry to say.
Drivers out after Session 2: P11 Coulthard, P12 Schumacher, P13 Button, P14 Rosberg, P15 Barrichello and P16 Davidson
The closing stages of qualifying where by far the most interesting of the day with the BMW of Nick Heidfeld threatening to spoil the party for Ferrari; but in the end the BMW Sauber just wasn’t quite quick enough and so the 2 Ferraris line up on the 2nd row of the grid. Alonso had a final push for pole spoiled by a slight lock up pushing him wide in Turn 9.
Tomorrow will be interesting!
