Lewis Hamilton took his second win today at Indianapolis for McLaren after what was his seventh grand prix. The young Briton was followed home by teammate Fernando Alonso who was trailing by about one and a half seconds. Rounding out the podium was Ferrari's Felipe Massa who had quite a battle in the closing stages with his teammate Kimi Raikkonen for the position.
Heikki Kovalainen finished fifth for Renault, Jarno Trulli for Toyota finished sixth, Red Bull's Mark Webber finished seventh, and participating in his first grand prix for BMW, Sebastian Vettel took the last remaining point.
In total there were 17 classified finishers, but only 15 of those did actually finish. Among the retirements were Nico Rosberg (Williams), Vitantonio Liuzzi (Toro Rosso), Nick Heidfeld (BMW), Takuma Sato (Super Aguri), David Coulthard (Red Bull), Rubens Barrichello (Honda) and Ralf Schumacher (Toyota).
