Jul.23 (GMM) Markus Winkelhock could be given one more race at the wheel of Christijan Albers' vacated Spyker at the upcoming Hungarian grand prix.
Christian Klien and Narain Karthikeyan are first in line for the full time seat, but debutant Winkelhock - who sensationally led at the Nurburgring for a few laps - on Sunday hinted that a decision might not have been taken by his bosses in time for the Budapest event next month.
Asked by Auto Motor und Sport if the team's reserve driver would be on the grid again in two weeks, Winkelhock said: "I hope so.
"Now I must talk to Colin Kolles about whether it is possible or not."
He said the decision would not be taken "today or tomorrow".
Kolles' problem is that while Williams' test driver Karthikeyan can promise a raft of sponsors, team chiefs including Mike Gascoyne are pushing for Klien -- who is not substantially backed.
"Believe me, I would much rather make driver selections on the basis of only other criteria," Kolles is quoted as saying by motorline.cc.
"But my job is to run a formula one team and ensure that it survives. And without a budget even the quickest driver is not useful to us."
