Hamilton coy after controversial delay
Briton could not defend time

Aug.4 (GMM) Lewis Hamilton on Saturday refused to outwardly accuse his McLaren teammate of deliberately fouling his shot at pole for the Hungarian grand prix.

Spaniard and championship chaser Fernando Alonso inexplicably delayed his final qualifying pit stop at the Hungaroring, meaning that 22-year-old rookie Hamilton did not have enough time to defend his quickest time.

"There's not really much to say," the Briton told reporters after the session.

"You saw what happened."

Alonso, who moved to within two points of Hamilton's title lead two weeks ago at the Nurburgring, claimed after the session that McLaren tacticians had been responsible for the delay.

"The team held me back in this. We tried to have some space with the Ferrari in front of us," he said.

Hamilton, meanwhile, had no comment, other than to confirm that he missed the clock for a final run by "about the same amount of time I was held up in the pit stop".

He told reporters: "I'm not aware of what happened. I think you should ask the team."
