Aug.26 (GMM) Ron Dennis in Turkey admitted close ties with David Richards' Prodrive F1 project.
The McLaren chairman would not, however, confirm solid speculation that their two companies will definitely link up as formula one's twelfth team gets up and running in 2008.
Richards revealed last week that Woking based McLaren-McLaren is the frontrunner to supply Prodrive from next year with both cars and engines.
But Dennis told reporters in Istanbul that the deal is not done yet.
"There is a clear objective and clearly defined strategy if it falls into place on how to announce it but we are not there yet," he said.
Dennis also said the media should not be asking him for updates about Richards' plans.
He added: "We are working towards a positive result but it is not there yet and it would not be for us to announce even if it was."
