Ferrari-Francorchamps
Raikkonen takes pole

In what has been a weekend of back and forth between Ferrari and McLaren for top spot, it was finally Ferrari who emerged supreme in today's qualifying event.

However, during session one, Massa had a somewhat heart stopping moment as there was a problem with his car. He spent most of the session sitting in the Ferrari garage while the mechanics worked feverishly to get the driver back out on track. Luckily though, they finished their work just ahead of the end of the session, and the Brazilian was able to get out and get into the next round. Losing out though were Sebastian Vettel (Toro Rosso), Rubens Barrichello (Honda), Takuma Sato (Super Aguri), Adrian Sutil (Spyker), Anthony Davidson (Super Aguri) and Sakon Yamamoto (Spyker).

Session two was more uneventful until the final few moments when all but the usual four went for a final time. In the end, departing from the session were Giancarlo Fisichella (Renault), Ralf Schumacher (Toyota), David Coulthard (Red Bull), Jenson Button (Honda), Vitantonio Liuzzi (Toro Rosso) and Alexander Wurz (Williams). Mark Webber was extremely lucky to get through to the final round as he botched his final run and actually got through on his first time.

And so, after the fuel burn off phase, it was the Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen who took pole with a 1:45.994. Following him on the grid to make it an all Ferrari front row was team mate Felipe Massa with a 1:46.011. Lining up behind them will be the McLarens of Fernando Alonso (1:46.091) and Lewis Hamilton (1:46.406). Taking fifth was Robert Kubica (BMW), in sixth was Nico Rosberg (Williams), seventh went to Nick Heidfeld (BMW), eighth to Mark Webber (Red Bull), ninth to Jarno Trulli (Toyota) and in tenth was Heikki Kovalainen (Renault).

*Robert Kubica will be demoted ten places on the grid for tomorrow's race after an engine failure in the final practice session.
