Final practice for the Brazilian Grand prix left us no clearer as far as indications go, with Felipe Massa heading home Lewis Hamilton by a mere tenth of a second, and Kimi Raikkonen – in the second Ferrari – a whisker down on the Mclaren at the end of the hour.
Fernando Alonso played odd man out here, ending the day in eighth place, a further seven tenths back.
Fourth place was the subject of a mighty scrap in the dying seconds, with Mark Webber, Jarno Trulli, Rubens Barrichello and Nick Heidfeld all joining Alonso in the same time zone, the Red Bull eventually pipping the Toyota by a few one- thousandths, the Honda a similar amount behind, and the BMW just shy again.
Sebastian Vettel, again shining for STR and Nico Rosberg made up the top ten, the former the last man within a second of the leaders.
UpdateSport will bring you full coverage of the upcoming qualifying session.
