Nakajima uninjured in crash
Broken steering suspected

The Williams team have called a halt to their testing programme at Barcelona after an accident involving Kazuki Nakajima this morning.

Nakajima left the circuit at high speed and hit a barrier head on, having failed to lose speed on the asphalt run-off area. The Japanese driver was shaken but uninjured, and reported the crash was caused by a suspected steering failure.

Williams also had Nico Rosberg running in a second FW30, but opted to stop running while investigations are carried out to ascertain the cause of the problem.

At the time of the halt in proceedings Rosberg had completed only 12 laps, the fastest of which ranks as seventh fastest at the time of writing.

Lewis Hamilton heads the times for McLaren at the moment, with Fernando Alonso second fastest in the Renault, but the big upset has been the apparent pace of the Force India team, for whom Giancarlo Fisichella runs fourth fastest, splitting the two BMW-Saubers.
