Practice 1: Ferrari Rule
But Williams Surprise

Perhaps it was the preseason testing, perhaps it was just because it was Ferrari, but Felipe Massa came out of Practice one for the Bahrain Grand Prix with the fastest time of 1:32.233, closely followed by team mate Kimi Raikkonen just 0.117 of a second further back.

The surprise of the session was the pace of the Williams pair with Nico Rosberg, the third fastest of the session, and Young Nakajima in sixth. The McLaren duo of Hamilton and Kovalainen filled fourth and fifth place respectively.

Nelson Piquet complained throughout the session that the tyres were degrading underneath him, and was heard in radio communication describing them like 'wet tyres in the dry'. But he was not the only one suffering through the session as most drivers had minor excursions in the usual opening dusty conditions that Bahrain brings.
