Four winners in four races

CROFT

Round two of British Formula Three came from Croft. In the championship Jaime Alguersuari for Carlin is tied with Marcus Ericsson for Fortec at the head of the championship while Andy Meyrick of Carlin leads the National Class.

In a wet race A1GP Team Mexico driver Sergio Perez took victory and began the first Mexican driver ever to win a round of the British Formula Thee Championship. His T-Sport car guided him to victory 4.2 seconds clear of former “Star of Tomorrow” Sebastian Hohenthal driving for Fortec. Completing the podium was Esterban Guerrieri for Ultimate Motorsport.

A fourth different team finished fourth, this time it was the Double R of Atte Mustonen. The championship leaders going into the race had a battle with Ericsson coming out on top in fifth demoting Alguersuari into sixth. Seventh went to Alistair Jackson and Double R Oliver Turvey eighth for Carlin before another Double R driven by A1GP Team Australia driver John Martin finished ninth ahead of another Carlin of Sam Abay in tenth.

Meyrick again won the National Class for the third time in three races finishing thirteenth overall. Jay Bridger was second for Fluid Motorsport and Steven Guerrero driving for T-Sport was third.

Race two saw a fourth different winner this season in the shape of Carlin Motorsport driver Brendon Hartley. He won the restarted race from Perez and round one winner Turvey returning to the podium.

The rest of the points went down to Mustonen, Alguersuari, Nick Tandy of JTR Marshall finished sixth to take his first points of the season. Hohenthal finished seventh ahead of National Class winner Meyrick who finished eighth overall ahead of International racers Jackson in ninth and Max Chilton in tenth for Hitech.

In the National Class Meyrick won for the fourth time after finishing eighth overall, he was well clear of Bahraini driver Salman Al-Khalifa driving for T-Sport and Hywel Lloyd of C F Racing who were second and third in the National Class.

After a wet day at Croft, Perez, the reigning National Class Champion has jumped to the top of the International Championship with forty points. Second in Mustonen with thirty-six, one ahead of Alguersuari with thirty-five.

Four wins in four gives Meyrick a massive lead in the National Class, he has 83 points and thirty-two clear of Bridger who had fifty-one and Al-Khalifa with thirty-three.
