MI5 link to Mosley scandal
British Agent resigns

The Mosley sex-scandal has taken an intriguing turn with the revelation that an officer with MI5 – the British intelligence service – has been forced to resign in connection with the saga.

Reports in the Sunday Times say that the officer – who can not be named for security reasons – resigned from the service upon discovering that his wife had been one of the five prostitutes filmed with Mosley in the Chelsea ‘dungeon’ during the now infamous session.

MI5 has officially denied that the officer – or the service – was involved in the case, although sources are indicating that the woman in question is the ‘Mistress Abi’ who, it is alleged, filmed the session and sold it to the News of the World.

“Any suggestion that the service was involved in setting up Mosley is total nonsense,” a senior Whitehall official said, adding “I cannot talk about individual cases, but we do expect high standards of behaviour from all staff at all times, both professionally and privately.”

Due to the high profile and importance of its operations, questions will be raised as to the efficiency of the MI5 vetting process, and whether or not the officer knew of his wife’s work as – allegedly – a professional ‘dominatrix’.

Mosley’s father – fascist leader Oswald Mosley – was monitored by MI5 during his political heyday by way of ‘plants’ operating inside his party, until his arrest in 1940.

It is believed that Prime Minister Gordon Brown has been briefed on the matter, as any compromising situation involving MI5 could be considered a matter of national security.
