Rain on the way in France
Wet race possible

Thunderstorms are forecast for the Magny Cours region today, creating the prospect of wet or changeable conditions for the French Grand Prix.

Indeed, the GP2 sprint race this morning began on a wet track and saw a shower in the process, with the worst of the weather predicted for later on today.

Rain could be a factor in mixing up what is already a curious grid, with only the Ferrari pair on the front row arguably in their natural starting position.

McLaren have both cars starting outside the top ten thanks to grid penalties, and the BMW F1.08 is not showing the form this weekend that allowed the team to deliver a one-two finish in Canada.

Keen to capitalise will be Fernando Alonso - in the Renault - and Jarno Trulli for Toyota, both of whom will start on the second row.

Updatef1 will, as usual, provide full live commentary, so be sure to join Paul in a little while for what may be a more intriguing French Grand Prix than had been expected.
