Formula One links with Hollywood at Silverstone this weekend in the type of publicity campaign that we have come to associate with Monaco.
This time, however, it is not the Red Bull team welcoming a plethora of movie stars, but Panasonic Toyota who will bring the legendary Batmobile to the Northamptonshire circuit, thanks to a tie-in with Warner Brothers new blockbuster ‘The Dark Knight’.
The film is the latest outing for Christian Bale, who stars as Bruce Wayne/Batman, but while he may be the headline, it is the Batmobile itself – 4.5 metres long, 3 metres wide, and 1.5 metres high with the ability to jump a distance of 18 metres – that all eyes will be on this weekend when it takes to the circuit for a demonstration run on Thursday, accompanied by a Toyota TF108.
Drivers Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock will both sport overalls featuring artwork from The Dark Knight, and special designs will appear on both race cars and the team motor home.
Photo opportunities featuring the drivers and the Batmobile will be available to the public across the weekend.
