Jul.2 (GMM) A high-profile delegation from the formula one team Red Bull were odd visitors to McLaren's Woking headquarters on Wednesday.
Former McLaren employees David Coulthard, Martin Brundle and Adrian Newey, as well as their current team principal Christian Horner, were given a guided tour of the Mercedes-powered squad's factory by chief executive Martin Whitmarsh.
McLaren admitted in a media statement that the group drew "many curious glances" from team staff as they worked.
It turns out that Coulthard, who drove for McLaren between 1996 and 2004, won the tour - and lunch for four - in a recent F1 charity auction.
"It's fantastic that he has put his hand in his own pocket to support this charity auction and it's great to see him back at Woking," Whitmarsh said.
"This afternoon showed that we still remain friends with many of our former drivers -- because Martin, of course, is an ex-McLaren driver too."
