Mecachrome out of F1
French firm cite freeze as problem

Aug.18 (GMM) Not yet a week after announcing deepening financial losses, motor sport engineering company Mecachrome's involvement in formula one is said to be at an end.

The Montreal based firm, involved in the preparation of Renault's F1 engines and also the chief supplier to GP2, last week said the engine freeze in formula one had contributed to its current struggle with losses.

The Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell now reports that, with Renault wanting to go completely alone in F1, Mecachrome is to move its main focus to an engine programme for Le Mans.

Mecachrome was involved directly in F1 in the late 90s also in the Supertec and Playlife guises.
