EF3: Round 7 - Brands Hatch
Hulkenberg in control

Round seven of the Formula Three Euroseries came from the British circuit of Brands Hatch.

During the gap in races Nico Hulkenberg was given back his win from Zandvoort. Hulkenberg had the win taken away from him because his car was found to be underweight, but it was decided that the only reason that he was underweight was because his fire extinguisher had gone off.

After six rounds Hulkenberg leads for ART with 49 points, second is Montana with 40 points for Signature-Plus and Mucke driver Mika Maki is third with 34 points.

Race one was won by Hulkenberg, team mate Jules Bianchi took an early lead and was pulling away when he was one of six drivers to be punished for improving their lap times under waved yellow flags. He rejoined seventh but his race ended in the gravel after a incident with team mate James Jakes.

Koudai Tsukakoshi was second for Manor, with Yann Clairay third for SG to complete the podium.

Eduardo Mortara was fourth to get his championship challenge back on track. Christian Vietoris was fifth for Mucke, Ranger van der Zande sixth for Prema. Signature-Plus duo Frank Mailleux and Jean-Karl Vernay were seventh and eighth, with Jon Lancaster ninth for ART and Heike Waldschmidt tenth for SG.

Race two was won by Mailleux. He took the lead at the first corner form team mate Vernay, who struggled to cope with famous slope, as they lead the whole way for a Signature-Plus 1-2 finish.

Van Der Zande was third, Mortara fourth closing in on Hulkenberg by just one point as the German was fifth. Clairay was sixth, Waldschmidt seventh, Tsukakoshi eighth. Cheng Cong Fu was ninth for RC with Lancaster finishing tenth. Maki struggled to sixteenth place following a race one retirement.

In the championship, Hulkenberg has extended his lead and is now looking unstoppable. He has sixty-one points and has a thirteen point advantage over Montana. Maki had a pointless weekend and has lost third in the standings to Van Der Zande who leads the Finn by thirty-seven points to thirty-four.
