Heavy rain greets teams at Spa
Weather a concern

Sep.4 (GMM) If Wednesday's evidence was any indication, the 2008 edition of the Belgian grand prix could be a wet and wild affair.

It rained heavily only once at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit - all day! - as teams, personnel and reporters set up at the venue in the Ardennes.

Parking lots were soaked and puddles saturated the paddock, and local reports indicate that more rain could be on the way, with a more than 50 per cent chance for Thursday through to Sunday.

BMW-Sauber driver Robert Kubica says the weather can be a "crucial" factor at Spa, which at 7kms is the longest layout on the calendar, nestled in a region that is often said to have its own 'micro-climate'.

"It can rain in one sector and it can be dry in another," the Pole added.

Ferrari's Felipe Massa comments: "Sometimes the rain at Spa comes with fog and that makes visibility very poor and it's not too comfortable to drive in."
