Ferrari to the fore at Spa

The opening practice session at a cold and damp Spa Francochamps provided no surprises as Ferrari and Mclare took to the front.

Felipe Massa continued his fine form with a 1:47.284, quicker than team mate Kimi Raikkonen by just over three tenths of a second, with McLaren duo Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen a further couple of tenths behind.

Those were the only four drivers under the 1;48 barrier, with Fernando Alonso next, followed closely by Red Bull ‘trio of Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel and Sebastien Bourdais, with Timo Glock – Toyota –and the second Renault of nelson Piquet completing the top ten.
