Sep.16 (GMM) Sebastien Bourdais seems to have done his chances of keeping his Toro Rosso race seat no harm with two consecutive good weekends.
His young teammate Sebastian Vettel, who will switch to Red Bull in 2009, is the toast of the F1 paddock following his astonishing Monza win.
But it was Frenchman Bourdais, 29, whooping into the in-car radio a week earlier, when he outqualified Vettel on the ultimate drivers' circuit, Spa-Francorchamps.
The F1 rookie and multiple Champ Car champion then qualified fourth at Monza, before he stalled on the grid.
"We have two good drivers," Toro Rosso team boss Franz Tost is quoted as saying by the German newspaper FAZ.
