Sep.17 (GMM) Three test rookies took part in the special "Young Driver Day" at the Jerez circuit on Tuesday.
One day before the main test action kicked off on Wednesday, BMW-Sauber, Williams and Honda took advantage of a clause in the 2008 test agreement allowing 350 kilometres of 'free' mileage for drivers with limited F1 experience.
BMW's Marko Asmer was fastest, ahead of Spanish teenager Dani Clos. Mike Conway could only do 20 laps in the Honda before the car's development KERS system ran into trouble.
Clos' Williams was also fitted with the team's unique flywheel KERS solution.
On Wednesday, all other F1 teams except Ferrari and Force India joined the test.
