Lost bet sees Williams in tartan
Stewart wager

Sep.28 (GMM) When journalists in Singapore dashed to hear Sir Frank Williams' take on his team's return to the podium, it was impossible to ignore the fact that he was wearing tartan trousers.

"Don't ask," the 66-year-old beamed, having seen his driver Nico Rosberg follow F1's first night race winner Fernando Alonso to the chequered flag.

It emerges that the Grove based team's wheelchair-bound co-owner lost a bet to triple world champion and fellow knight Sir Jackie Stewart earlier this year.

Stewart, also in Singapore in his role as representative for the Williams sponsor RBS, bet Williams at the start of the season that Rosberg would be on the Melbourne podium with the new Toyota-powered FW30.

6 months and fourteen races later, Williams is reluctantly honouring his lost wager - the trousers - at the last grand prix he will attend in 2008.
